Charity Drive Rumah Titian Kasih 05/09/10

The Charity Drive for Rumah Titian Kasih was our very first charitable project that our group, now known as HIHI, set out to do. The collections for the charity drive which started from 24th September until 4th August was very well received despite only being passed around through word of mouth, physically and virtually ie facebook. Among the things we managed to collect were mainly daily necessites such as :-

• Rice
• Cooking Oil
• Detergent
• Shampoo
• Biscuits
• Clothes (Baju Kurung, Baju Melayu)

After two weeks of collection, we finally set out to deliver the goods on 5th August 2010. Needless to say, it was a very touching experience for each and everyone of us. Extra wide smiles were spotted when the baju kurung were given to the ladies, it was a week before of Hari Raya after all. Special thanks has to be said for those who donated and showed their support, may Allah bless your good deeds.

Rumah Titian Kasih is a very proud home who don't just wish to receive "blind" donations but would rather generate their own income through entrepreneurial ventures. The single mothers in RTK (helped by the younger ones, of course) work together in providing catering services, laundry services, selling handmade crafts and local biscuits/crisps/crackers.

Seeing their will and determination in becoming self dependent, we have decided to dedicate our next charity drive in support of their business ventures. We will be looking to raise funds for items that can be used to scale and romp up their business, and will be dedicating the entire month of October 2010 for this cause.
